Yep. With the GOP securing a solid Senate majority and likely keeping the House, a national abortion ban is definitely on the table, as are attacks on contraception, IVF, and other items. But when you vote for Trump and a Republican Congress this is what was going to happen, so it is apparently what most voters (including white women) wanted.

I was telling my husband, I don’t remember ever seeing a poll where she wasn’t leading in Wisconsin. Sure, margin of error and all of that, but it seemed to be the one consistent state.

I’m so glad I took today off. I’m not even sure what to do with myself. I’m one of those “November is for Thanksgiving“ people, but I think I might just go buy some Christmas decorations to cheer/distract myself. My 14-year-old made me chuckle when he said he can’t even scroll Instagram in peace this morning due to all the MAGA nonsense.

I’m a staunch November is for Thanksgiving guy. You do what you have to do. No judgement.

As I look back on the Biden nomination in 2020, he was the right person for the moment … but in the short term. We were looking for someone with a great deal of experience in the federal government to restore stability. The problem was that he was too old. It was hard to envision him going into a second term. And with his poor communication skills and lack of charisma, which were exacerbated by his advanced age, she struggled to defend his job performance or the state of the country, which by most objective measures were quite good.

He was able to fix things and to help send things into an upward trajectory, but he was unable to get many people to see that or to inspire confidence.

Unfortunately, he ended up being a band-aid used to attempt to cover up a much deeper problem.

Gas is already down to $2.39 here. Oil futures are already around $70/ba as inventory surged. It's amazing how Trump did that without being President. I'm sure he'll take credit.

I hope Trump is kidding about tariffs (but I doubt it) and can use it as negotiating leverage. But keep in mind the Adults in the Room in Trump 1.0 acknowledged that Trump had a very poor grasp of foreign policy and the US Constitution (and didn't care)



I would agree with the notion that Biden pulled an RGB and didn't step out as he promised (single term POTUS)...to allow primaries.

The Wall Street Journal has an incredible story today. The National Archives museum, under Biden-appointed U.S. Archivist Colleen Shogan, has been working to reshape its narrative of American history in order to make white conservatives more comfortable. The Journal describes a pattern of efforts to shape its newest upcoming exhibits to better fit right-wing narratives of U.S. history. The museum has removed references to Martin Luther King Jr., Japanese internment, Native Americans, union organizers, and birth control, because presenting American history honestly would make Republicans upset.

Are you under the impression that state constitutions supersede federal laws? Or that there is no will among elected Republicans (now with extra MAGA) in Congress to pass a national ban? Or that Trump definitely won’t sign it?

I think the " tax paid surgery for trans inmates" ad was a haymaker late in the game. Harris never walked back the sound bite. It was aimed at Black men but resounded with a lot of different demographic groups.

I agree with you actually, as a pro choice Republican. I think it’s way too messy being left to the states. But I’m just pointing out that leaving it to the states isn’t the same as opposing all abortions. I don’t really think Donald Trump gives a damn about abortions and is by no means some super pro-life politician.

I suspect the story will be that low propensity voters came out and voted for Trump, and it was always about the economy (stupid). And not the greater economy - low propensity voters don’t care about the stock market or the federal unemployment rate or GDP. They care about what’s in their bank account at the end of the month.

Something Trump won’t change.

100% why Trump won. Walk in a grocery store, buy a car, pay a utility and tell me it doesn't hurt. Whether its governments fault or not prices are higher and people vote with heir pocket books

The lincoln project had the response ad (it was all on trump's admin) and the dems never let it run. Failure. That ad, as gross and wrong as it was, was massively hurtful

This definitely resonated with black men. Dems have really boxed themselves in on weird issues like this. Not once to my knowledge did Harris come out and say “that was misconstrued, hell no we won’t be wasting your tax dollars performing gender surgeries on trans prisoners”

It's probably already been mentioned, and I know ballots are still being counted, but Kamala is about 17 million votes behind Biden's final total from 2020, while Trump's total is nearly unchanged.

So if this holds true, Trump didn't add any votes, but didn't lose any... and this whole "get out the vote-ground game" of Kamala's simply didn't produce. Too many people on that side of the aisle stayed home or voted 3rd party

How pissed do you think Joe Biden is today? He gave up his reelection bid for a blowout in which Kamala got shutout of every single battleground state. 0-7. He must be thinking, "Hell, I could have done that myself."

Honestly that's horrifying, and is one of the most disturbing things about all of this. For generations people have worked to give the minority perspectives on American history more space (after it was completely ignored for generations, like the role of African-Americans in the Civil War in winning their freedom), and now we're literally going backwards so as not to offend white conservatives. The Wilmington Insurrection, the Tulsa riots, the Stonewall riots, it's all going yet again to be put on a back burner because white conservatives don't want to hear about it.
