We have been. But red folks don't see us as that because we haven't said it explicitly
Dems support the individual freedoms they like such as abortion. No so much on individual freedoms on:

Gun ownership
Vaccine mandates (“my body my choice”)
Excessive regulations
Free speech on social media
Freedom to purchase vehicle of choice (EV mandate)
Gas stoves and ovens
School choice

….you get the point.

A lot of that is bullshit though.

- Dems have never done shit about guns. They should, but they won’t.
- Vaccine mandates have existed for as long as vaccines have. The opposition to this vaccine is based solely on people being angry that shitty COVID response cost Trump the 2020 election and the vaccine is a reminder of that. Pubs were all in on a vaccine mandate when they thought it would get approval in time for the election and for Trump to be hailed as a pandemic-defeating hero. When that failed to happen Pubs through a tantrum and did everything in their power to make the pandemic worse in Biden’s first few months.
- Excessive regulations, what does that even mean? Which regulations are actually excessive and which are hard learned lessons? Are you ready to go back to the era of rivers catching fire and toxic waste dumps poisoning communities?
- Free speech on social media? Right wing nut jobs run virtually all social media. This is another red herring.
- Nobody is banning your vehicle of choice
- Nobody is banning gas stoves
- “School choice” is just an excuse to hand tax dollars to religious organizations, which should not be happening and to re-segregate schools rather than actually work to fix them.

Nah, I don’t think any of us get your point, actually.

Gun ownership: no Democratic candidate said anything about gun confiscation. In fact, both Democratic candidates on the presidential ticket are proud gun owners. And the majority of mainstream Democrats support the right to gun ownership- I certainly do, as I now own two myself. It’s just that we also support common sense measures and restrictions that help to keep guns from being owned or purchased by people who have no business owning them: convicted felons, violent offenders, mentally ill individuals, etc.

Vaccine mandates: no Democratic candidate ran on forcing parents to vaccinate their children. Parents have an option to not vaccinate their children, and public schools have the option to not allow unvaccinated children to enroll.

Excessive regulations: no clue what you mean by this so I won’t even touch it.

Free speech on social media: which Democratic candidates advocated for oppression of free speech on social media? Not sure how you, as a Republican, can complain about free speech on social media given that one of the largest social media platforms in the world is owned by the GOP’s largest benefactor.

Freedom to purchase vehicle of choice: which Democratic candidates have run on a platform of not allowing you to buy vehicles run on fossil fuels?

Gas stoves and ovens: which Democratic candidates have run on a platform of prohibiting you from being able to buy gas stoves?

I'll give you guns but there is no Government mandate for Vaccines, limiting of free speech on social media, EV mandate, or Gas stove ban.

Excessive regulation is subjective and related to businesses and not individuals. The term school choice is just a way for the right to divert money to private schools to help those who don't want their kids to go to school with undesirables.

I don’t doubt variations of this are happening. It’s the convenience of each element of the original story that make it sound like an “I know a guy” sTory.
100% agree. The story you posted didn’t sound completely true to me.

I do get your point, if your point is that the election was decided by low information voters.

So vaccines are now about personal freedom?

My gosh, our situation is worse than I thought.
What this dude is saying is that people should have the right to not take a vaccine but other people shouldn’t have the right to fire them for not taking the vaccine.

What a stupid take. Did you actually read this? It sure doesn't seem like it. Try again. And this time use your brain.

I won't even give him guns. Never mind the "well-regulated militia" component of the 2nd Amendment (which the Supremely Unethical Court had on Super Ignore), regulating WEAPONS OF WAR seems like something the founders would have approved of. After all, they approved of a WELL-REGULATED MILITIA, for Christ's sake.

Actually, a good argument is that in most of those Senate races, the incumbent underperformed by 4 to 6 points of what they should have done. Incumbent Senate candidates, even in swing states usually come in several points higher then the Presidential. And then there's PA. No way Casey should have lost that. And he pretty much knew there was a problem by the way he distanced himself from Harris.

Being completely honest, I haven’t followed a single one of those cases in detail so I have zero informed opinion on whatever those cases are about and what the specific evidence showed. If my life depended on me trying to name you 3 of the 30+ felonies he’s been charged with, I couldn’t do it.

I believe that Trump was only prosecuted because he upsets the political machine like no other person in modern history. Not because he committed serious crimes.
Interesting juxtaposition of opinions. You were certainly correct about the "zero informed opinion" part, though. Blind squirrel, nut, etc...

Another from Twitter:
"A reminder that when Trump supporters were given Harris policy proposals blindly they supported them. Also, those who had incorrect facts about the major issues - economy, inflation, crime, border - they overwhelmingly went Trump. Those with facts went Harris."

I still think the outreach/comms/disinfo/education is the first thing that needs to be fixed.
Exactly why the far right wants to dismantle our education system.

I do actually have a friend from UNC that is buying one year’s worth of inventory for his company to keep his prices the same for 2025.
If his prices increase due to the republicans voters idiotic wish for tariffs, then he will raise his prices in 2026.
He'll need to raise the price in 2025 to have the capital for 2026 inventory, will he not?

Vaccines are not simply your body your choice.

If you get sick then you will probably share those germs and make others sick. You can see the upward trend of measles since the antivaxers have been pushing their disinformation. As well as an upward trend for polio. This isn't equal to a pregnant woman. You know this, you know being around a pregnant woman isn't going to lead to an outbreak.

Everyone has school choice. The right just wants the government to pay for there religious schools. You can send your child to a school of your choice, you simply have to pay for it.

Putting out knowledge of possible issues caused by burning gas stoves is not banning gas stoves.

So vaccines are now about personal freedom?

My gosh, our situation is worse than I thought.
How would a trump cultists respond? They would say that the person needs to suffer for their choices. So when a person shows up at the doctor with measles, if they refused the vaccine they should be sent home without treatment.

Sometimes I want to respond in kind, then I realize how inhuman that is.
