I support the aid we have given to ukraine and I'm not in favor of ending it now. But, where is the end? Another 20 years ala russia in afghanistan? There has to be an end in sight otherwise a brokered deal is the best option. Now that nk has thrown their hat into the ring there is a new dynamic and our national interest in ukraine should be examined to gauge continuing the aid or not and what are the possibilities of brokering a deal. That would obviously put the US in a very strong influential situation.
You do get that both NK and Russia are long term sworn enemies ,don't you, and are never going to be anything else? We've never have done more to better our position against both for so little cost as what we've spent, not to mention living up to our commitments. How about let's doing it for 50 years? Over the past three years we've spent about one quarter of one year's worth of defense spending supporting Ukraine. Those proceeds have neutered our largest geo-political enemy. It might be the best defense money we've spent since WWII. Ukraine wants to fight. We've already seen what happens when you capitulate to Russia as we did when Ukraine and the rest of the world sat back as they took Crimea. They just waited until they had that portion digested and went for a bigger bite. If we allow that to succeed we are likely back here again in ten or less years as Russia looks for their next meal.
